Managing Partner

With more than 22 years of experience in the financial services industry, Joel Albert has built his career around a passion for leadership, developing people, building high-performing teams, and helping individuals, families, and businesses achieve greater financial security. In June 2026, Joel was appointed Managing Partner of New York Life's Baltimore General Office, returning to the city where his financial services career began more than two decades earlier.

Joel began his career in 2004 with Monumental Life Insurance Company, a company founded in Baltimore, Maryland. Starting as a financial professional, he quickly distinguished himself through his commitment to clients, professional development, and leadership. Within three years, Joel advanced from Agent to Sales Manager and ultimately Managing Director, assuming responsibility for multiple offices throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. During his tenure, he successfully revitalized underperforming organizations, transforming struggling offices into some of the company's highest-performing operations while earning numerous company and industry honors.

In 2012, Joel joined New York Life's Baltimore General Office as a Partner, beginning a 14-year journey of professional accomplishments, leadership, and organizational growth. Throughout his tenure, he earned numerous distinctions, including multiple national Top 50 Partner rankings and Partner of the Year awards, numerous Council qualifications, and Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) membership. His career with New York Life has included leadership responsibilities in both the Baltimore and Greater Washington General Offices, where he developed successful teams and mentored financial professionals, and he is also affiliated with Eagle Strategies as a Financial Planner. In March 2022, Joel established New York Life's Frederick Sales Office, growing the organization from eight financial professionals to nearly 40 by 2026. His accomplishments and leadership led to his promotion to Senior Partner in September 2022.

In June 2026, Joel's career came full circle when he was promoted to Managing Partner of the Baltimore General Office. With the integration of the Frederick Sales Office into the Baltimore General Office, he now leads a unified organization of more than 85 financial professionals and managers serving clients throughout Maryland and the surrounding region, with offices in Timonium and Frederick.

Throughout his career, Joel has believed that the foundation of a successful organization is its people. Having served as both a financial professional and an agency leader, he understands firsthand the opportunities and challenges of building a successful practice. His leadership philosophy centers on attracting and developing talented individuals, creating opportunities for personal and professional growth, and fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, collaboration, and excellence. Joel holds the Financial Services Certified Professional (FSCP) and Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) designations. He has also been involved in community and charitable organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement of Central Maryland, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

A longtime Maryland resident, Joel lives in Frederick with his wife, Carolyn, and their children. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, basketball, tennis, golf, weight training, hiking, music, and spending time with family and friends. An avid Baltimore sports fan, he proudly supports the Ravens and Orioles and appreciates a great steak, a good glass of wine, and a little friendly competition.
